Sigma Fun!

So.... remember that low buy.... fail. Just kidding, not completely. But I did pick up some brushes at a Sigma Beauty event this last weekend, and I also got to meet Leesha for xSparkage. Which was super exciting, she was really nice and I had a great time!

Leesha and me at the event!

So on to brushes! I picked up three, and got the fourth as a gift with purchase.

Sorry if the numbers are hard to see the brush numbers! But I got (L to R) the E45 Small Tapered Blending Brush, the E30 Pencil, and the E65 Small Angle Brush, and a small version of the E26 Blending Brush. So far I really like them all! I love how small these are because I hate using big brushes. I like to have a lot of control so that definitely a plus. I also was pleased with the price tag, the angle rush was the most expensive at $12 USD. Love love love!

Have you guys tried products from Sigma? What are some of your favorites? Tell me in the comments and make sure to follow my twitter @SpiceDropBeauty for more fun!

Ramblings: Low Buy

Hello darlings! So I thought I'd give you guys a heads up, I'm going on a low buy of sorts. It's not that my collection is so huge I need too; however I'm trying to save up to go to IMATS NYC next year. :) So there will probably be fewer reviews on here, although I will probably buy at least one new thing a month so don't get too disappointed. That being said, I'm going to do way more tutorials to make up for it. (No pun intended ;D) So if you guys have any looks you want me to do, tell me in the comments or send me an email at spicedropbeauty@gmail.com . Have a great day! xoxo A

Bobbi Brown Corrector Concealer

Herro there. Today I'm finally reviewing Bobbi Brown's concealer. I bought this in the beginning of January, and have been using it since then. You may have seen this if you've looked through the product in my last few tutorials. Its taken me so long to review because there a bit of a learning curve, at least for me. In fact I almost returned it. But I figured it out, so let go see!

So on the left here if my unconcealed eye, the lighting in this picture actually downplays my under eye circles but you can tell the difference. I get dark purplish under eye circles, with visible blue/green viens. (Yay!) Its very distracting, so I need a pretty full coverage under eye concealer, that wont crease or fade. On the right is my eye with the Bobbi Brown concealer, as you can see much improvement. I'm wearing the shade Porcelain Peach, which at first I thought was too light, but I've learn how to blend it properly into my foundation so now it works. However I don't think I could get away with wearing it alone. Soo....
Pros:
  • Good coverage
  • Very creamy
  • Blends into foundation nicely
Cons:
  • Doesn't last all day, about five hours on me. (Can be fixed with setting powder!)
  • So creamy that can be smudged (Again, powder.)
  • Shade could be closer
  • Price. This is more then I'd like to spend.
All and all I do like this concealer. Most of the issues I have with it are easily fixed, expect the price which is going to effect my choice to repurchase.

Bobbi Brown Corrector Concealer is $23.00 USD for 0.05 oz here.

What do you guys think, worth the cost? Tell me in the comments, I'd love to hear your opinion!

Feb MyGlam!

Have I mentioned how much I love this service? Because I really do. Especially when I'm broke, its so nice. But anyway this months bag has five products and is 'red carpet' themed, lets see! =)

It comes with a MICA black gel eyeliner, a little Coastal Scents quad, a Pixi Flawless & Poreless  Primer, a Pop Beauty Smoky Lash Mascara, and these Lash Card things. And I did a look with everything...

Alrighty, lets start with the primer because that was the first to go on my face anyway. Its oil free, hypoallergenic, and is supposed to clear pores and smooth imperfections for flawless makeup application. (Sounds like a plan!) Its also supposed to be shine blocking which is definitely something I'd look for in a primer. Now I don't about 'flawless' but I do like the finish that this gives, it makes your foundation go on smoother and gives it a sort of soft lighting effect. I would not recommend this for those of you with dry skin. I have a tiny bit of dryness right under my eyes and it did accentuate it a little. I also recommend using a setting powder afterward because I feel like my foundation dries waaay slower with this underneath. I normally don't wear primers, because they tend to break me out big time, but so far so good for Pixi.

Next are the coastal scents eyeshadows. The packaging is actually really useful for a sample package, because it re-closes easily. They were given out in two variations this one and a silver toned one. The color in here are Dark Golden Rod (a pretty dark gold with green shimmer), Sunbeam (a bright pastel yellow), Golden Globe (a shimmering medium gold), and Dark Golden Olive (sort of self explanatory). All of them have great pigmentation expect for sunbeam which is a little chalky.

Mica Gel Eyeliner. A black gel eyeliner, I'm always interested to see how these compare to MAC blacktrack. Which I love for its smooth texture, but sometime wished was more water and smudge proof. Well.... this isn't it. Its alright texture wise, very similar to Maybelline eye studio which I used to use but nothing too special. However if you rub this, even after its been long dry you will have crazy panda eyes! Not a fan. =(

Lash Cards. Umm maybe I'm doing it wrong? I didn't find these very helpful, but maybe they would be if you have trouble with getting mascara on your eyelids. Or perhaps for putting mascara on others.

Pop Smoky Lash Mascara. A black washable mascara. Its very black, and pretty lengthening. The one thing that I find a flaw with is that it doesn't curl at all. I don't think I have particularly straight lashes, so I almost never curl them, but this makes them stick straight out which detracts from the lengthening effect. If you have naturally curled lashes, or don't mind curling them this mascara would probably be fine for you.

Not my favorite bag, but still worth the ten bucks! My favorite thing is the Dark Goldenrod eyeshadow. Do you like what you see?

Chocolate Covered Cherry (Valentines!)

Hello my lovely readers! I decided to do a Valentines look inspired by a valentines classic, chocolate covered cherries. If you'd prefer a a cute pink valentines look, I have one here that might suit you. :)

Now I'm a firm believer that should always make yourself feel special, especially on special occasions. So after evenly spreading primer all over your eye take a white eye shadow base ( or eyeliner) and put it in your inner corner and brow bone. Start from where ever the highest part of your brows and smooth the base down.
Next take a raspberry colored eyeshadow, and pat it slightly off the center of your lids. After that I blended a bronze color into the outer edge of the raspberry color. After that take a light brown color on a fluffy brush and softly blend it around your crease for a soft smoky effect. After that take a darker brown and fill in your crease. Then bring the dark brown down a little and blend it into your lower lash line. Next step take a pink eyeshadow and blend the raspberry toward the inner corner with it, but don't go all the way. After that gently pat a nude color over the white base over your brow bone. This makes it look really smooth and perfect. The for the inner corner highlight I used a shimmery white gold color. ( tip use your face high liter if you can!) That I lined my upper water line and my lash line part way, both with black. After a quick coat of black mascara, I put on my favorite little half lashes. These will elongate your eye and add a little more drama.

After you finish your eye makeup do your foundation. I start out with concealer under my eyes and then put on a full coverage foundation. Blend blend blend! Then I highlighted and contoured, then added a rosary flush with a shimmering blush.

To finish it off I put on my favorite red lipstick, and called it good!

Eyes: Too Faced shadow, Nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencil, Sleek raspberry eyeshadow ( original palette), MAC woodwinked, Urban Decay Buck, Urban Decay Backdoor, Urban Decay foxy, MAC free to be, theBalm Mary Lou manizer luminizer, Urban Decay 24/7 perversion pencil, MAC black track eyeliner, Maybelline the Rocket mMascara, Ardell 305 lashes.

Review: Maybelline The Rocket Waterproof Mascara

Now of all of the beauty products in the verse, I just don't find mascara that exciting. I mean I like it, but its not something I feel like trying a lot of. You may have noticed this, as I only use a couple mascaras in my tutorials. But I ran out of both of my trusty Maybelline Lash Stiletto and Full and Soft, both waterproof versions. And although I have plenty of small mascaras, I need to have waterproof. I'm an emotional freak, with allergies so normal formula mascara isn't the best idea for everyday use. I'd heard good things about Maybelline's newest mascara from Missglamorazzi (Love her!) and thought I'd try it out.

So here are my natural lashes... or lack there of. They're very blonde and not super long (probably due to the fact that I wear waterproof mascara everyday....)

And with a good coat of The Rocket....
Much improved! Again my lashes aren't very long so nothing is going to make them look super fake and long. But this works pretty well. Its definitely a lengthing mascara, rather than volumizing. But I prefer mascara that way. The brush is taking some getting used to. Its the king with small rubber prickles instead of big fibers. (Much like Benefit They're Real! which would be perfect if it was waterproof...) All and all I'm a fan, what do you think? Tell me in the comments! =)

Jan 2013 Favorites!

Hey you guys! I'm really excited about this post because its the first favorites for 2013! I don't have a ton for Jan, but here we go!

First we have Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter. OMG, this stuff is fantastic. I got it in my January myglam bag and I've been loving it ever since!

Second favorite for the month is a non beauty favorite. You might remember that a couple weeks ago I went to Missouri, and in the tiny town I was staying in there was a fantastic candle store! This candle is in blackberry musk, it smells so great. And I have their candle Spiced Mandarin
burning right now. Check then out at freesniffs.com.

Next is MAC Mocha Lipstick. I've already reviewed this here and babbled a lot about this lipstick. So I won't tell you too much here, but definitely my most worn lipstick this month.

Next we have another lip product, Korres Plum lip butter. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll own all of the Korres Lip Butters before long! I love love love this!

Next is Bobbi Brown Concealer in Porcelain Peach. I still need to review this, I'm so bad about that! Been using it almost every day, will review soon!

Now the last one is more of January discovery than a favorite. It's a sample vial of Victoria's Secret Angel Gold perfume. This was super surprising for me. It's not that I dislike Vicky's... it's just that their perfumes rarely wow me enough to buy them. I will totally buy this come spring! It's a really pretty fresh fruity floral. Classy enough to go to work or see my grandmother, pretty enough to wear on a date. Nicely done Victoria's Secret.

Blue Green Look!

I want to start this post by berating myself for being lazy and not posting enough. I've been crazy busy... but thats still no excuse! So anyway I've been doing brighter looks lately because I hate winter, and this is another one! This look uses some stuff I've recently gotten, but the main pont was to use some products that have been gathering dust in my makeup collection. So I hope you like the look!

So I started out with primer all over my eye (Shocking I know!), and then I took a shimmering lime green and applied it to the inner third of my eye lids. Then I took a turquoise eyeshadow and patted it on the center of my lid. It wasn't blending into a nice enough gradient with the lime for me, so I added a bit of a slightly blue toned medium green and used it to transition the two colors. Then taking a dark emerald shade, I deepened my crease and extended my eyeshade out a little into a point. Then bringing it down I smudged the emerald into the outer third of my eye. I really loved the colors in this look so I kept the liner minimal, just on my upper water line. Then I added black mascara and did my brows.

After my eye makeup I put on foundation and concealed under my eyes. No blush on this one, but I added a little light golden cream highlighter to my cheeks.

For lips I just added a little plum tinted lip balm, to add a little color without competing with my eye makeup.
Products Used:
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Nyx Ultra Pearl Pigment in Grass, Sleek Turquoise Color (Orignal Palette), Lime Crime Jade O Lade (Chinadoll Palette), Urban Decay Loaded Eyeshadow, Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Perversion, Benefit They're Real! Mascara, Mac Brow Creme Fluidline in Redhead, Nyx Brow Cake in Red.

Face: (I totally forgot what foundation I used XD),  Bobbi Brown Concealer in Porcelain Peach, Benefit Watts Up! Highlighter.

Lips: Korres Plum Lip Butter.

Hope you guys liked this look, it was fun to do and gave my Grass Pigment and Sleek Orignal Palette a little love. =)
