Quick Look: New Years!

Hey everyone, happy last day of 2012! Everyone still here, world didn't end? How shocking! I decided to do my makeup last night to show you guys. I'm a little sad though, the pictures really don't do the glitter on my eyes justice. Its a white pink/ green duo chrome, so just pretend! ;D

I started out with Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and then Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Then I took Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Powder in Opal and patted it oll over the lid. (Again waaayyy more magical in person!) Then I took MAC Omega Eyeshadow and put it through my crease focusing on the inner corner. I then took a little bit of Omega under the eyes and smudged it out. Then I applied MAC Blacktrack Fluidliner, and made a small wing then line my upper lid. Then Mascara and Brows, exciting.

Then I put on Kat Von D Lock It Foundation in Light 48 and buffed it out. I used Hard Candy Blush in Pin Up as a Contour, and added a little of the pinky highlighter from Benefit 10 boxed powder for a little color.

For lips I used MAC Mocha lipstick, with Smashbox Lipgloss in Illume. ( A sparkly nude shade.)

Happy NYE everyone! xoxo A.

Review: Mac Lipsticks Mocha and Fresh Moroccan

Merry Christmas to me! I had a little extra cash after getting gifts for everyone, so I picked up a little something for myself. I got two beautiful lipsticks from Mac, Mocha and Fresh Moroccan.

L to R: Fresh Moroccan, Mocha

Mocha (satin) is one of my new favorites for neutral lipsticks. Mac describes it as a 'peachy yellow brown'. I'd call it more of a peachy brown neutral. I don't own many Mac lipsticks because I find them too drying sometimes, but this one goes on pretty comfortably. I still will put a balm under it regardless. Its a beautiful shade. Its very similar to my favorite neutral lipgloss, Nyx Sponge Cake and they look great together. If you have red hair, and warm undertones go try this. It goes so nicely with my auburn hair.

Fresh Moroccan (Frost) is so festive and pretty! Mac call it 'a brick red with a gold pearl'. I'd say thats about right. This picture doesn't do it justice at all, I had to edit the color and it lost of its amazing sparkle it the process. =( This one is a bit drier, but it isn't gritty and so its nothing a balm underneath can't fix.  Many people don't like frost finish, but this one is beautiful! Wore this one on Christmas, it was so perfect.

Whats your favorite kind of new makeup to get? =)

Winter Solstice Part 2

So the longest night of the year is over! Its mid morning now, and bright and sunny. And while tonight will still be dark, it'll stay a little lighter for longer every day to come now! =) It just makes me so happy! So I made this brightly colored sunny look, in sort of the opposite style of my first look.

So I started out with a primer all over my eyes, and the put some tape along the sides to make a clean edge. Then I took a white cream base and put it all over my eyes. On my lids I patted a bright yellow color all over. Then going to the edge of the tape I took a bright orange and made a wing connecting to the yellow. Then I added red to my crease to add more depth, and blended it between the yellow and orange well. Then I made a wing following the tape line again. Then I took my tape off and lined under my eye a little bit. I filled my brows super lightly and applied mascara.

For my face I wanted a light shimmery finish, the reverse of my pervious look. So I put on a bb cream for a light coverage base. Then I took a shimmery golden peach toned blush and blended it in. Then add some light bronzer around your face to brighten you up. (I'm actually wearing a TON of bronzer in this, because the light is so blue grey today! I'm like an oompa loompa in real life.)

For my lips I put on a bright shimmery coral, and patted a golden shimmer over it.

Products Used:
Eyes: Urban Decay PP, Nyx Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk, Lime Crime Goldfish Eyeshadow (Chinadoll), Sleek Orange eyeshadow (Sunset Palette), Lime Crime Fly Dragon Fly Eyeshadow (Chinadoll), Mac Blacktrack Fluidliner, Maybelline Full n Soft Mascara.

Face: Holika Holika Petit Clearing BB Cream, Mai Couture Highlighter Sheets in St. Barts, Benefit 10 Bronzer.

Lips: Nyx Round Lipstick in Miracle, Hard Candy Tropics Bronzer.

Hope you liked this look, and that things get a little bit brighter for you!

Winter Solstice Part 1

Happy end of the world! Lol not really, but it is the winter solstice which is one of the coolest times of the year. For those of you who don't know, the winter solstice is the longest night of the year, and every day after gets a little lighter. So I did two looks a dark one for today, and a light one for tomorrow.

I started out out with eyeshadow primer all over my eye. After that I applied a white cream base to the outer corners of my eyes, and a creamy black base to the rest of my lid with a brush. This will make the look pop more. Then I took a matte black eyeshadow and patted over where I put my base, make sure its very black. Next I took a pale blue eyeshadow on a different brush and placed it on top of the white, blending out the edge so it transitions well. Then I took sparkle powder and patted it on top of the blue for extra shimmer prettiness. After that I lined my lid and waterline, and smudged some eyeliner under my eyes in the corner.  Then I lined my lower waterline with white. To finish it off I buffed a nude eyeshadow on my brow bone, applied mascara, and lightly filled in my brows.

I applied foundation after that, because dark colors and glitter can have fallout. I went with a full coverage foundation, and concealed under my eyes. I applied a very light contour blush but I wanted to keep the face pretty neutral. Likewise with my lips, I used the lightest lipstick I own.

And that completes my winter solstice look, come back tomorrow to see part two!

Products Used:
Eyes: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Nyx Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Milk, Nyx Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Black Bean, Urban Decay Blackout Eyeshadow, Lime Crime Parasol Eyeshadow (Chinadoll Palette), Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Powder in Pure Opal, Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Eyeliner, Urban Decay Foxy Eyeshadow, Maybelline Full n' Soft Mascara, Nyx Red Brow Powder.

Face: Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation in Light 48, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Light, Hard Candy Baked Blush in Pin Up.

Lips: Nyx Stella Lipstick.

Happy Solstice! =)

Quick Look: MyGlam Look

As promised I did a look with all my new toys from my My Glam bag. I'll get a quick review with each product. I used my own foundation, mascara, and brow product but the only other products were the ones in the bag. Its pretty simple but I did like the way the products went together, I hope you like it!

I started out with foundation, and then primed my eyelids with Mirabella Eye and Face Primer. I didn't test it on my face because my skin has been really problematic lately; face primers tend to just break me out more. This primer was interesting, it feels oily but then dries like a powder. I then loaded up a brush with Nyx Ultra Pearl Mania Pigment in Mink and patted it all over my eyelid. This color is super pretty, the pic doesn't do it justice. Its a really nice soft gold and I think it stands on its own pretty well here. I lined my eyes with Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero which is a nice soft black. Quick mascara and brows, nothing exciting. The I took a Mai Couture Highlighter Sheet in  St. Barts and applied it on my cheeks. This is definitely more of a peachy blush on my rather then a highlight, but its very shimmery and pretty. I discover half a sheet folded in half is the amount you need. Also folding made it easier to apply. Then I finished off with Be a Bombshell Lipgloss in Hot Mess. It looks very red in the tube but is a much more subdued cranberry on me.

Things I liked: The colors went together very nicely! My favorites were the highlighter sheets, and the eyeshadow. I love UD's 24/7 liners too so that was nice. And the lipgloss is a pretty color.

Things I didn't like (as much!): The primer was sort of weird, it made the texture of my eyeshadow a bit less smooth than my normal primers. However it did last really well for a good twelve hours, so I can't fault it for that. The lipgloss is a bit sticky. Not enough to seriously bother me, but it doesn't last very long. About two hours on me without eating. If my lipgloss is sticky I need it to at least last well.

All and all I really enjoy these product and will used all of them. I'll probably try the primer on my face when it my acne settles down so I might do an edit or update for that later. I'd definitely check out MyGlam, its pretty cool. =) Do you have any new favorite products?

Holiday Gift Guide! Under $25

Hello everybody! With the holidays here I thought I'd do a last minute gift guide. I tried to do gifts that would fit into most people's budgets, and can be purchased easily at most malls.

#1 The first item on our list is 3 wick Candles at Bath and Body Works. I'm a big fan of these, I personally think their scent throw tops most other candles. They also come in tons of fantastic scents. These are perfect for girlfriends that could use some relaxation in their life.
$20 at Bath and Body Works (I think they're on sale 2 for 20 right now though!)

#2 Tarte Beauty & the Box eyeshadow quad. These are a happy bundle of pigmentation and joy, all inside beautiful boxes. This one is in Brewed Awaking and is a good selection of neutrals but it comes in three other options if these don't float your boat. This is great for eco conscious friends.
$22 at Sephora

#3 If you want a gift that seems luxe but wont break the bank bet on Stila's All is Bright Lip Glaze Set. It comes with eight of Stila's lip glaze's in a variety of colors and finishes. I think this would be good for someone who likes to change up their makeup a lot.
$25 at Sephora

#4 I thought this was truly adorable! This Body Butter Lollipop is from the Body Shop and comes with five small sized body butters in this set (Coconut, Shea, Moringa, Strawberry, and Satsuma) which I'm a big fan of. If I could only have one body lotion it'd probably be Satsuma Body Butter. This is perfect for any one you want to pamper a little, and the small sized jars are perfect for purses.
$20 at The Body Shop

#5 Lush Fun. This stuff is SO COOL. Its fantastic in fact, its a bubble bath, shampoo, and soap all in one but the best part is that its bath playdough! And to top it off part of the procedes go to creating safe outdoor play places for children in Fukushima. This is great for the kids in your life, as well as people who are kids at heart. =)
$6.95 for a tube at Lush

Happy holidays everyone! Lots of love, A.

Sugar Plum Look

It is so snowy outside! I seriously haven't seen this much of the white stuff since I was kid. So I thought I'd do another holiday look, I sort of had the sugar plum fairy in mind when I did this. This look is super easy and very festive, I think its wearable but you could always tone it down to your taste. Enjoy!

I started with full coverage foundation all over my face, and skipped straight to blush. I took a plummy cream blush and blended it like crazy on to my cheekbone. Then I concealed under my eyes.

Then I took a primer and applied it all over my eyes and brows then I took a nude colored shadow and placed it all over my lid and brow bone. Then I mixed together a purple and rust color to create a cranberry shade and took it in the outer V and the crease. Next I took more of the nude shadow and blended it around the crease to clean it up a bit. To finish it off I applied a gold glitter liner, a light coat of mascara, and did my brows.

After that I went back and added highlighter to my cheekbones, and a put on a magenta-ish lipstick.

Products Used:
Face: Kat Von D Lock It Foundation in Light 48, E.LF HD Blush in Show-stopper, theBalm Mary Lou Luminizer.

Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Urban Decay Kinky Eyeshadow, Sleek Purple eyeshadow (original palette)  Sleek Rust eyeshadow (sunset palette), Nyx Crystal Gold Eyeliner, Maybelline Full n' soft black mascara, Nyx Red Brow Powder.

Lips: Covergirl LipPerfection Lipstick in Embrace.

Hope you're having a great day! Whats your favorite holiday treat? Mine is ginger bread or peppermint bark! =)

Review: OhYum!

I'm a big fan of buying from indie companies, and I'm happy to share this one with you guys. I just got my first order from OhYum and after some testing I've got a full review for you. =)

First I got Ginger Peach Tea Sugar Scrub Cubes. Now this sounded like the perfect storm for me, I love fruit teas (especially black mango!) and body scrubs. The site describes this scent a 'spicy, fruity, and green'. I must say its mostly fruity, it has a very strong peachy note with a slight tea undertone. As for the quality and application of the scrub cubes, A+ for me. Each cube is around the size of a normal sugar cube and to used you simply wet, squish between my hands and then rub on any body parts that need exfoliating. Its  nicely scrubby and has oils that leave your skin nicely moisturized.
$7.00 for 5oz

Then I got Lavender Body Butter. It makes several claims including: being rich & creamy, very moisturizing, and absorbing quickly. It definitely meets all of those marks. I will say that it does go a little fast, I've already made a decent dent and I've only had it a week. However I'm not a huge fan of the scent. =( Its more of a medicinal sort of lavender, but it isn't super strong. I would buy again in a different scent.
$7.00 for 4oz

And then I received two lip balms. Honey Clove and White Tea scented, White Tea was a free gift. (Thanks!) The formula is smooth and slightly thick. Its beeswax based and works pretty well. I've switched out my normal bedtime lip bam for these for the last few days and the hold their own. They also last pretty long, I can feel the slip a little still when I wake up. The scent is slight but existent for Honey Clove, but not for White Tea.
$3.00 for 0.15 oz

Besides some minor fragrance issues, I'm very pleased with my purchases and recommend them. The sugar scrub is probably my favorite.
OhYum! products can be purchased here!

Snow Bunny Look

Well the weather decided to turn seasonally appropriate on Thanksgiving night, and now everything has a fresh white blanket of snow. I love snow (at the beginning of winter at least) so I thought I'd do a snow inspired look for you guys. I also wanted to try out Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy as a glitter glue... because glitter happens. Lol enjoy!

I started out by concealing under my eyes and applying a even layer of BB cream all over my face. And then big shocker here–– I applied primer all over my eye. After that I put a white base all over my lids and then toped it with matte white eyeshadow for ultra white lids. Then with a medium grey eyeshadow I gently blended into the crease and pulled it out slightly following the natural line of my eye into a small soft wing.

Taking a sticky base for glitter I carefully patted it starting just after the grey through the center of my lids. Then I took holo style cosmetic glitter and and pressed it on to the sticky base with my finger. I went under my eyes with a fan brush to get rid of fallout glitter. Then I lined my lower waterline with white eyeliner. After that I took a little more of the grey from earlier and softly brought it in about halfway under my eyes with a smudge brush, following the same line from earlier. Then I defined my brows and applied black mascara to my upper lashes.

The skin I wanted to keep fairly pale but flushed and healthy looking. So I took a natural looking bright pink blush and brushed it on my apples and up. Then I highlighted variously places on my face lightly to give a little glow. I finished it off with a light peachy lipgloss.

Products Used:
Eyes:  Urban Decay Primer Potion, Nyx Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk (as base), Sugarpill Pressed Eyeshadow in Tako, Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Mushroom, Fryinnae Pixie Epoxy, Random Cosmetic Glitter, Nyx Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk (as liner), Nyx Brow Powder in Red, Maybelline Lash Stiletto Waterproof Black Mascara.

Face: Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Light, Holika Holika petit clearing BB cream, Tarina Tarantino Doll Skin Blush in Parasol, theBalm Mary Lou Manizer Luminizer.

Lips: Nyx Megashine Lipgloss in Nude Peach.

Hope you enjoyed the look! Whats your favorite part of winter?

Monthly Favorites: Sep/Oct 2012

Alright so its the eleventh... of november.... normally I aim for the first.... fail.... and this is more of fall favorites post because I spaced doing september's. So much incompetence lol.

#1 BBW Dark Kiss Shower Gel. Mmmm its so yummy smelling last fall I practically lived in the Dark Kiss lotion but this year I'm slowing down so I don't burn out on it. To me it smells like an sexy woman wearing a oriental perfume baking pie. Its very very sweet, but its also warm with a hint of musk. And the sweetness grows on you.

#2 MAC Amber Lights Eyeshadow. I'm loving this warm light bronzy color on my lids for fall. Its one of my go to lid shades in the morning if I'm sort on time or uninspired. I often wear this on the lid with a white shimmery highlight just in the corner and a darker brown in the crease. Good times.

#3 MAC Rich Ground Fluidline. Another staple for quick morning looks, its a creamy reddish bronze gel eyeliner. It good for just a little color, or definition when you dont want something as harsh as black.

#4 Opi Deutsch You Want Me Baby? Nail Polish. Ha ha the names from the German collection are great, but I didn't just buy it for the name. This nail polish is a stunning  metallic orange that I've been wearing all the time lately. Like every other nail color. Very very pretty.

#5 Holika Holika Petit Clearing BB Cream. You guys have heard me talk about this before, but after wearing almost everyday for a month this is definitely an October favorite.

#6 Kenra Color Maintenance Shampoo. A friend of my family's works for Kenra so sometimes I get presents! (Brief little ad, my hair is Kenra hair dye too.) But I've really been loving this one, its kept my color really well. and thats hard with reds. Its perfect for me because my hair is dyed, but not dry or damaged. In fact my hair is fairly oily and so far this has been the best for controlling oil while keeping my color. Also it smells like real fresh raspberries, yum!

#7 Darling Girl Liquid Luxe Kiss Lipgloss in Fenix. Love this lipgloss! Its neutral without being boring, I love it for work! Also my boyfriend doesn't mind it because its so smooth and non-sticky for a lipgloss. I'm definitely buying more soon.

#8 Urban Decay Smoked Palette. I felt like this deserved a mention because I've used it sooo much the past two months. Truly lovely palette, and I think the price is easily justified.

#9 Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. Why this is called a lotion is beyond me. But this is currently my favorite spot treatment for ance. I just dot it on before I got to bed and it helps heal the zit. Magic! XD

#10 Maybelline Lash Stiletto Waterproof Black Mascara. I've been loving this lately. My all time favorite macara is Full n' Soft because its sooo fool proof. I could put it on in my sleep. But this is a little more dramatic, which my sad little lashes could definitely use.

And my non beauty related favorite of the month.... Pomegranates! I adore pomegranates, I'm so glad they're back in season.

Haul!

I want to preface this post with a statement, I suck! I've been so bad about blogging lately and it really bothers me. I do hauls very often because I simply don't have the money to get enough stuff to be worth sharing. But I went shopping the other day as part of a much needed day off, and got a reasonable amount of stuff to show you guys. It was pretty great. I got so many new festive winter things, and I even got to be a model at Sephora. =)

Sephora
I didn't get a ton of stuff at Sephora, but I did get some Tarina Tarantino makeup at a great price. Sephora isn't going to keep carrying them (which is sad) so they're on crazy sale right now, go snap up anything you've had your eye on!
  • I got Tarina Tarantina Dollskin Blush in Parasol; it's is the most beautiful warm pink color! I keep trying it on all my friends and haven't found one it doesn't look good on.
  • I also got a Tarina Jewel Eyeshadow Palette in Dreamy. It comes with five beautiful eyeshadows: a bright metallic copper (my fav), a warm white frost eyeshadow, a golden nude eyeshadow also frosty, a warm chocolate brown satin, and a dark blackened brown with gold and copper shimmer. All the eyeshadows are smooth and pigmented, I'm in love with the copper color it looks to pretty with my hair. The packaging is also very cute. Each palette is a different color that coordinates with the shadows inside, this one is warm brown. But they have this beautiful opalescent rainbow finish, its so shiny its actually causing a glare in the picture.
  • And just as a fun treat a got a Philosophy Lip Shine in Cinnamon Buns. It smells sooo great very true to the name. This one is clear with lots of light gold shimmer, and it gives off a super glossy shine. Its a little on the sticky side, but not enough to bother me. It does make me want to devour my lips though...
Mac
Just got Blacktrack. 'Nuff said.

Bath and Body Works
  • Mmm winter candle time. I got White Barn No. 1 Nutmeg and Spice. I love BBWs' candles and this one was my favorite from their winter/ christmas collection this year. BBW's website says it smells like 'toasty spiced caramel and nutmeg'. I'd describe it as buttercream and nutmeg. Its sweet, spicy, and delicious. I got the small ten dollar kind, which is on sale for five right now, always nice
  • I also got a PocketBac hand sanitizer. This is actually why I went to BBWs the candle just sort of happened. I always have one of these in my purse, and I had just ran out of my lavender one. I got Red Apple Ruby, which smells sort of like apple cider with lots of caramel added. I like it, but the scents a bit strong. You might want to pass if strong scents bother you.
Lush
Possibly my favorite store ever. Got some yummy christmas goodies!
  •  First off we have my all time Lush christmas favorite, Cinders Bath Bomb. Its sooo good. Its smells like magical spiced apple cider and has poprock style candies on top that crackle in the bath like a fire. This the first of many cinders bath bombs for me this year...
  • Then we have the Golden Wonder bath bomb. Its so cute! This bath bomb looks like a present and even jingles when you shake it! And it carries a old favorite Lush scent, snowshowers. Its supposed to remind you of mimosas on christmas morning. It smells amazing I highly recommend it.
  • I also got the So White Bath Bomb. On the outside it looks like a perfect cartoon snowball, but on the side its bright pink! It was inspired by a traditional Indian end of winter festival called Holi where people throw bright colored paper. It smells like fresh apples, almost good enough to eat!
  • Finally the new Lush love of my life, Twilight Shower Gel! It smells like sweet lavender and tonka. Did I mention its also purple and sparkly? The only downside is that its limited edition for the holidays. =(
I hope you enjoyed my little haul! I'll post again soon I promise! xoxo A.

Darling Girl Cosmetics Review

So I just got my first ever order from Darling Girl Cosmetics, a small indie makeup company based in Texas. I have a small budget as always but their stuff is very high quality and affordable; they also don't test on animals which I know is peace of mind for many of us.

In all I got four lip glosses and a mini eyeshadow for around twenty bucks with shipping, thats pretty impressive on its own. I'm very happy with all of them.
L to R: Fenix (Liquid Kiss Luxe), Graveyard Betty, Jasmine Boneforhands, and Hellspawn. (Zombie Apoca-Lips )
This is going to sound silly, but these are the first indie lip products I've purchased. I normally normally only buy eyeshadow, but Darling Girl has so many beautiful colors and formulas that I had to try some! They come in click pen style tubes with brush applicators- admittedly not my favorite. But the formula is fantastic, smooth, pigmented, and non sticky.
.
Fenix: 'A gorgeous berry mauve with a green shift' I'd say thats about right, I'd describe it as a deep natural berry with a slight green shift. I was hoping the green shift would show up a little more, but alas only in certain lights. It really is beautiful though, its not as dark as it is in the tube or swatch. Its one of those mythical work appropriate but not boring colors. This is part of their permanent Liquid Kiss Luxe line.

Graveyard Betty: 'A sheer milky white with a pink/red shift infused with a green flakie' These are designed to go over darker lipsticks. I've been having soooo much fun with these! The green flakie is a little larger then the other glitters but its still pretty smooth. Part of their Zombie Apoca-lips line, not sure if these will be limited for Halloween or permanent.

Jasmine Boneforhands: 'Sheer milky white with a purple shift, infused with a gold flakie' I havent really noticed gold shimmer at all, but this one is a lot of fun to layer with. I wore it the other day over a cooler berry red and it turned it into a bright fuchsia with purple sparkle. Part of Zombie if you didn't guess.

Hellspawn: 'Sheer burnt orange with color shifting mica' One of my favorites, its a orange lipgloss with a pretty gold flash. Its more opaque then the other Apoca-Lips glosses and I like it by itself as well as other red lipstick.

Inferno Room Eyeshadow: 'Bright true red with a metallic undertone and fine gold and copper shimmer' I'd say this leans a little bit warm, but that could just be the warm shimmer. Very pretty dry, and I can't wait to foil it. This is also from a Halloween collection 'The Ghost with the Most' which is Beetlejuice themed (Squee!)

I'm very very happy with my new toys, and encourage you to place an order yourself. As I said very reasonably priced, my only annoyance was shipping time but they do tell you what to expect so I can't really fault them. You guys can definitely look forward for more reviews of them by me. =D

These can be found on Darling Girl Cosmetics Website!

Halloween Series: Forest Nymph

Well I'm back for the third installment of my Halloween series, and this week I'm doing a wood nymph look. Its very pretty, and very very easy. I'm using some fantastically long Sugarpill lashes for this look but use whatever length you're comfortable with!

Startled Nymph!
After applying BB cream and eye primer I took a peachy colored eyeshadow I used it all over my lids and brow bone. Then with a wet angled brush I took a medium green color and lined my lids with it. Take the same green and gently work it into your crease. Then take a medium brown and blend it just into the corner of the green. Apply a little black mascara, if you're not using lashes you're done! This is where I applied my fantastic lashes, and batted them dramatically lots.

Now taking bronzer I contoured lightly around the edges of my face and under my cheek bones. Then I added a little bit of a peachy flush right above the contour, and dusted highlight on top of that.

On to my foresty head thing. Using the sides of my liner brush for a straight edge, I took a brush with light brown eyeshadow down the side flipped it to the other side, and made a triangle. Then I filled in the triangle with my bronzer. After that I made the little vines with green eyeshadow and a liner brush and applied a green sequin with a tiny amount of eyelash glue. Then to finish off the look I applied a neutral pink lipgloss and called it good. However I think a green, blue, or brown lip could also look super cool!

Products Used:
In order of application

Eyes: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Urban Decay Freestyle Eyeshadow, Lime Crime Jade o Lade (Chinadoll Palette), Urban Decay Barlust Eyeshadow, Maybelline Full n Soft Black Waterproof Mascara, Sugarpill Shady Lane False Lashes.

Marina and the Diamonds Electra Heart Look

So I feel in love with the makeup that Marina has on the cover of her most recent album, Electra Heart. For those who haven't heard of her Marina is a British pop singer (the Diamonds refers to her fans not her band) who I'm mildly obsessed with. So I put together this look, I think I did a pretty good job; however something to remember is that we have very different face, eye, and lip shapes so its bound to differ a little.

After applying liquid foundation even;y all over with a buffing bush I took my normal primer and went all over my eyes and brows. Then taking a small liner brush I marked where to end the crease on both sides of my eye. (It should be right where you lid starts to get narrower) Using a dark brown color I carefully filled in the crease, it should be fairly thick but make sure not to blend too far down. After that I used a q-tip with makeup remover to keep the edges sharp and went around the edges with a nude color to keep the crease uniform. For the lid I took a peachy color and put it in the center, and then I blended white in the corners to make the crease stand out more.

I lined my lids with wet black eyeshadow and a angled brush, I made a little wing angling downward. Then with a smudge brush I took the same dark brown from before and took it about 3/4th's the way out making sure to taper the end. After that I applied black mascara, I'm almost certain she's wearing falseies in that picture but I don't have any that would suit this. To finish the eyes off I drew the little heart with a red lipliner pencil.

Remember how I mentioned that Marina and I have different face shapes? By that I meant we look absolutely nothing alike. So to help remedy this I contoured my face to look a little more like her. I went under my cheekbones because she always has quite a bit of cheek going on and then went along my jawline to make my face a little more heart shaped. I also added some highlighter to make the contour stand out more.

On to lips! Like the face her lips are also shaped differently then my own. Her lips are fuller and her cupids bow is much softer. So with a red lip pencil I rounded out my lip shape. With a lip brush I filled im my lips with red and then blotted the excess. With a dark lipgloss I darkened the center of my lips just like the cover.

Ramblings: Adventures in Gingerhood!

Psst... I've got a secret... I have a fairy godmother. She's wonderful, and sometimes will take pity on my sad little locks and help me. There isn't a whole lot more to say, but I love my new hair!

Halloween Series: Cat Look

Hello pretty kitties! Today we have the next part in my halloween series, a cat look from yours truly.
I decided to be a rust colored cat with spots, but you can change up the color of the eyeshadow and lipstick to suit the color of your cat costume. I'll have recommendations for different colors below the instructions.

I started out with a light layer of my normal foundation, but then I blended a layer of cream bronzer around the edges of my face and down my neck to deepen my skin tone a little. Then to add depth back to my face I contoured a little under my cheeks with a powder bronzer.

Moving on to the eyes I started out by priming my lids up through the brow underneath my eyes and the surrounding area. To get my lid color I mixed a bronzy gold with a dark red orange to create my rust colored cat shade. I sort of out lined where I wanted the wing to be, and then filled in the lid. Then I cleaned up the shape with a nude colored shadow. Add black mascara, to you top lashes only. Now cats don't have eyebrows, however my eyebrows are SUPER blond so I filled them in a bit so it didn't look weird, but I imagine you normal people with eyebrows could probably get away with not doing them. ;D

Then taking black gel eyeliner on an angled brush I made a fairly thick wing then brought it in to the corner making the cat like dip in the inner corner. After that I took a white shadow pencil and lined my water line and just under connecting it to the corner of the liner in the inner corner. Then I outlined the the white with more black liner to complete the eye shape. Underneath I added more of the rust color (I used less of the bronzy gold though) and extended the cat eye shape.

The spots are totally optional, but I took a bronze cream and pretty much just added random spot to start out with. Then with a much smaller liner brush then I used before I took more gel liner and outlined the spots. I added a few small spot with just black to fill the space in a bit too. You could probably do the black with just pencil liner if you prefer. Then draw on your little whiskers.

I couldn't find a lipstick that matched perfectly, so I applied a sheer bronze lipstick and put a orangey gloss over it.

Tips for Different Colors:
Black Cat: I suggest using a shimmery grey or sliver, not black. That way it'll suit your costume but the liner will still be visible.

Tiger: Do stripes instead of spots.

White Cat: Skip bronzer, just add a little contour and lots of highlight. Use white and or light pink eyeshadow.

Quick Look: Job Interview Look!

I'm so sorry I haven't been posting lately, huge fail on my part. I've just been feeling sort of crappy and down lately and have had a ton of work. But thats no excuse! I try to post every other day, and thats a goal I need to work harder to uphold. So yesterday I had a job interview and I thought I'd so you my makeup. So for the crappy quality, I took this with my computers camera.

Look at that face. That face is downright employable.

I wanted to keep my makeup light but polished so I started out with my Holika Holika Petit Clearing BB Cream all over my face. Then I added Urban Decay's Kink a light matte nude color all over my eyes. Then with an angled brush I lined my lids fairly thickly with MAC's Rich Ground Fluidline. I Define my brows with MAC Omega Eyeshadow (OH! I'm totally blonde at the moment, all my color is gone for now) and then added mascara to my top and bottom lashes using Maybelline Full n Soft Waterproof Black Mascara. On my cheeks I blended out a tiny bit of E.L.F Studio HD Blush in Encore  for a rosy flush. I topped it with a light dusting of theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer Luminizer for shine. (I was reminded of neopolitan ice cream!) For a little perk up I used my favorite and dwindling lipstick Tarte LipSurgence lip tint in Moody.

When ever I'm nervous I wear my Euphoria perfume, it always makes me feel more confident. Do you guys have a 'confidence scent'? Also would it be cool if I told what scent I'm wearing in posts? Let me know!
