August '13/ Summer Favorites

Hey guys! I totally spaced doing my July favorites, so this post isn't just my August favorites but the reigning champions from the whole summer. Amusingly this is exactly what happened last year. So lets go!

And this was scaled back...

This is a huge favorites post, so I've divided it in to sections. Starting with.....

Makeup Favorites

So first off I have Coola Tinted Moisturizer which I reviewed here already. Still in love! Its basically replaced all my other TMs and BB creams.

Sonia Kashuk Sheer Shimmering Highlighter. So I got this back in June, as a total impulse purchase at Target. Oh my goodness, I've never been so pleased with a product I didn't research. This has made it into my everyday makeup routine. It just gives the healthiest glow, but I did a whole post on it already so I'll stop gushing.

MAC Woodwinked Eyeshadow. This has always been one of my favorite MAC shades (if not my very favorite) but I've used it soooo much recently. I used it is several posts, but I can easily say I've worn this at least one day every week this summer. Its the prettiest bronze/gold shade. The formula is one of my favorites across my collection too: buttery, blendable, and fantastic pigmentation! Luurrrrve.

Another MAC, this is Honey Jasmine Powder blusher from their All About Orange collection. This is another product that I just wore the hell out of this summer, I will likely wear this a lot this fall as well. I adore very warm orange toned blushes on gingers, and this is the perfect blush for that look.

I was super excited to get my hands on one of Lime Crime's Velvetines! I review this one already here but if you haven't read that or heard of them, its a matte lipgloss that goes on and then stays put! Through.... quite a lot actually! This one is is a stunning warm red.

NYX Butter Gloss in Peach Cobbler. This smooth creamy red orange gloss lived in my purse for most of the summer. I like having a back up lip color with me that I know for sure that love. This has enough color to pop, with out a lot of fuss. Win win!

Finally Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti. Another product that warranted its own post. This orangey lip butter was a summer staple for me this year. I rocked this more times then I count. The lip butters are a product that I always come back to.

Bronzing

There are also some honorable mentions for this post, Jergen's Natural glow, and NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny. But I wanted to have products that I recently discovered.

So first off I have Too Faced Milk Chocolate Bronzer.  The color pay off is great well still looking natural. I got this in the Sephora Sun Safety Favorites and was thrilled! This matte medium/dark bronzer too dark for all over bronzing on me (I leave that one to NYC's) however it's fantastic for contouring! Great product.

St. Topez One Night Only Instant Body glow. This body bronzer is the best perk up for pale skin for special occasions or just when ever you want to rock a short skirt! It's damn near impossible to mess up, and even if you manage to, it just washes off with water. ;D

Sun Protection

For my face I've used Ole Henriksen's Protect the Truth SPF 50 sunscreen for most of the summer. I really love it because its oil free and doesn't break me out. I have a problem with sunscreens and primers giving me crazy break outs but this one works great.

For my body Sun Bum has me covered! I've been using this a lot, especially when I'm outside all day. I reviewed this one already here so I won't say too much more, but this is definitely worth the couple extra bucks!

Bath and Body

First we have Bath and Body Works Forever Sunshine Shower Gel. This has been by far my favorite shower gel this summer. It's a light bath and body works says that it's a "juicy tangerine, pink peonies, creamy sandalwood, and a touch of sweet praline." I'd say thats a pretty good description, however as with a lot of b&bw scents the notes aren't easy to pick up by themselves. But it's a light sweet warm floral. Mmmm...

Nest up was my favorite perfume this summer Victoria Secret Angel Gold. This perfume came as a surprise me, but a happy one. Its a lovely light citrusy floral thats perfect for summer. It has notes of bergamot, gardenia, peony, and light musk. Rounded out with a bunch citrus notes. It's a young scent, but classy. I've been living in this all summer.

Misc.

Sunglasses! They don't need to be expensive. Just cute and UV protective! I got these at target for like twelve bucks. 'Nuff said.

Summer Boardwalk candle from Bath and Body Works. Oh my goodness! I have a huge weakness for food scent candles, and this one is amazing! It smells like candy apples, and carmel corn. It's like the world's cleanest carnival, all the yumminess none of the sweat and trash. I've got about a third left, I'll keep burning it till I have some fall candles and then save the rest for next year.

Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist. This stuff feels like magic on a hot day. Especially if you put it in the fridge for a little while before hand. I can't really tell you how hydrating this is, because I don't have dry skin. But for a quick cool down, this stuff is the best! It's also great to make your makeup look less 'powdery'.

I've had a fantastic (if fleeting) summer, and I'm sooo excited for this fall! What about you guys, anything interesting happen, new product? Let me know in the comments!

Monthly Favorites: June '13

Hey guys! Sorry I've been terrible at keeping up the last couple weeks, but to be fair my computer has been having problems. Today I have my favorites for the month of July, I don't think I did a favorites post last month so these have been constant favorites in the early summer.

1) Summer Boardwalk 3 wick Candle from B&BW. It smells AMAZING! It smells like you're walking past a carnival and you get a breeze that smells like carmel corn and candy apples. It has a great scent throw without being too intense, and it just smells so summery and fun! If you don't like sweet or 'foodie' smells, this isn't for you but if you do definitely go check it out.

2) Ole Henrikson Protect the Truth SPF 50 sunscreen. This is the best face sunscreen for oily skin that I've ever tried! It's lightweight and oil free, it doesn't have a white cast, and smells lightly of oranges. Sold yet? I definitely was! This is a little baby bottle that I got in Sephora's 2013 Sun Safety Kit.(Which is totally great! Tip: spilt it with a friend with an different skin type.) When I run out I will definitely repurchase, skin protection is worth a little splurge.

3) St. Tropez Only For One Night Instant Body Glow. This is my favorite instant self tanner. It gives fast even natural looking color with a hint of shimmer, and washes off with just water. I'm a big fan, especially because my legs are several shades lighter then the rest of my body right now. This helps them look a little more lively. Vgood!

4) MAC Honey Jasmine Blush. Okay so this was a limited edition blush that came out maybe a month ago in MAC's Temperature Rising collection. It's a stunning soft orange shade that looks fantastic on me. (not to be cocky or anything. ;D) I normally try not to show LE products, but I really love this. Also you can still find this online, so it's more okay.

5) Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This is an amazing matte bronzer! I was really impressed by this product, and a little goes a long way on a pale girl like me. It gives a very natural finish, and is great for contouring as well as all over bronzing.

6) Maybelline Vivid Lipstick in Vibrant Mandarin. I reviewed this awhile ago, and at the time I thought it looked nice but wasn't totally sold. I let it sit lonely in my lip drawer for a month or so, but lately its been really growing on me! Go read the review for more information.

7) Jordana Lip Out Loud Super Shiny Lipgloss in E- 123. Its a very cheap drugstore lipgloss, with a really stupid name, granted. But these are actually really nice! they're non sticky and come in pretty shimmering finishes. This one is a sheer bright pink coral. Its sheer, but has a fair bit of color payoff and is great for quick summer makeup that doesn't look cakey or overdone.

And for non beauty favorites.... I'm gonna have to go with Diablo Cody's Biography: Candy Girl. It's well written, raunchy, and set in my hometown which is always a trip.

How's your summer going? Any new favorites, beauty or otherwise? Let me know in the comments below!

March Favorites! '13

Hey guys, sorry I'm a little late for this. I normally try to do it the first of second, but that just wasn't happening this week! So anyway these are my favorite for the month of March, I hope you enjoy them!

So lets start with makeup favorites, since there actually aren't a ton this month.

1.) NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk. I've had this baby for awhile now, but it really shined on a day to day level for me this month. I normally only use it for making very bright colors pop (which it does very well!) but lately I've been using it to make pastels show up more true to color to great success. You can by the at Ulta for around $6 USD but be warned these are often out of stock.

2.) Sleek Rose Gold Blush. Ughhhh this is so beautiful! I can't get over it, this is a must have especially for light skinned girls. Its a beautiful warm pink/coral with a golden sheen. It has great pigmentation, but can be played up or down. I've had this awhile, and sort of neglected it over the winter. But now its back in heavy rotation for spring.

3.) Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette. Just did a review on this so I won't go on about it too much, but its worth every penny.

Now on to some misc. favorites!

4.) Sally Hansen Nail Polish in Sun Kissed. This is such a pretty Dreamsicle color! A lovely light orange cream finish. I find this line to be pretty long lasting, and also this one is opaque in about two coats. Always a plus!

5.) B&BW Country Chic Shower Gel. This actually the second favorites post this has wiggled its way into. Its such a great spring scent, its a warm yummy floral that not overwhelming. I have this in shower gel and body butter form, they're great layered together but bath and body works lotion breaks me out it I use too much of my back or shoulders. :(

6.) Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock. I know I should use this all year, but I forget in the winter. :p But I've started to get in the habit of using this everyday again. It doesn't break me out or make my makeup go on weird so its a win-win for me.

7.) Wallet from Charlotte Russe. Isn't in cute? The other side has a holder for my iphone which is very handy, especially when I don't want to carry a purse. I've seen ones with the same concept, but they all looked really cheap. This one was really cheap, but looks much classier. Yay! ;D

8.) Sunglasses from Target. Nothing too special but they're really cute and do their job. I'm very light sensitive so I always need a pair with me. Plus they were only $12 at target! I love the sort of retro vibe they have.

9.) (Not Pictured) Fovever 21. I've seriously considered moving there a few times this last month. Their plus size section is a godsend for curvy girls! This dress in particular is one of my favorite things this month!

So non-beauty favorites? That would have Caribou Sparkling Lemon Ginger Pomegranate Juice! Omg that stuff is like crack, I need to stop.... or not. But for music this month I've really loved Regina Spektor's most recent album What We Saw From the Cheap Seats, and the song Safari Disco Club by Yelle.

What were your faves from March? Let me know in the comments, and check out my twitter for more!

Feb 13 Favorites!

Hey guys sorry it's been awhile, I've been kinda lazy. I don't have too many favorites for last month because I haven't been buying many new things. So lets just jump right in!

So the first product is my MAC Gelcreme Fluidline in Redhead. This came out with MAC's stylish brow collection a couple months ago. I normally try not to put LE things in my favorites, but I really like this product and hope they repromote it again.

My second favorite is Nivea Vanilla Macadamia Kiss Lip Butter. This smells soooo good! This was another Missglamorazzi recommendation that I caved in for. But it's a cheap indulgence and works well.

Next is a Voluspa Petite Decorative Candle in Goji Tarocco Orange. This smells so good, its almost ridiculous! It comes in a gorgeous red tin with a cool foral motif, and its a great scent to bridge from winter in to spring. It the wonderful orange that I always associate with winter, but also bright exotic fruit notes that help perk me up. These candles smell fantastic and burn quite awhile.  Best of all they aren't too expensive, about the price range and sizes of Slatkin candles (which I also love!).

After that is my Maybelline The Rocket Waterproof Black Mascara. I reviewed it here, so I won't ramble on about it. But needless to say I still like it quite a bit.

Another favorite is Cover Girl LipPerfection Lipstick in Impassion. You may have heard me talk about these before because another color in this line, Enthrall, is pretty much my favorite lipstick ever. No joke. This one is also great, if not HG worthy. It's a beautiful metallic copper color that looks really great with my red hair. Goes on smooth, non drying, this one isn't quite as long lasting but still a good few hours of wear. Love these so much.

And finally NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny. A true drugstore gem! I needed a matte bronzer and heard this was a good dupe for Nars Laguna Bronzer. I've never tried Laguna, but it has very good reviews so I thought I'd check this out. I like it a lot, its buildale, very matte, and doesn't look unnatural on my sad winter skin.

Non beauty favorite of the month? Anything tropical. Pineapple, mango, banana, humidity you name it. I'm just glad February is done, it was really starting to get to me. XD

2012 Favorites!

Hello 2013! I'm very excited for the new year, and I'm dying to tell you guys all of my top favorites for this past year. Many of these you've probably heard me talk about, because they're the ones that have stuck with me all year. Many of them before I even started to blog. Lets get started!

1: Urban Decay's Smoked Palette. Love this to bits! I got it in September and I probably use it three times a week. My most used shades are Barlust and Mushroom, but I love them all!

2: theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer Luminizer I did a review of this here way back in August. Its still my favorite, definitely a HG product for me.
$24 www.thebalm.com

3: Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Enthrall. LOVE this lipstick! I might cry if they discontinue it, no joke. Its the perfect natural red on me!
$4-7 Drugstores

4: Kat Von D Lock It Foundation. Alo reviewed this one. My favorite full coverage foundation, its fantastic.
$34 www.sephora.com

5: Lime Crime Chinadoll Palette. Such beautiful bright colors! And I can't count all the tutorials I've used this palette in. I can confidently say this is one of the best buys I've ever made, it really opened me up to a lot more bright looks.
$35 http://www.limecrimemakeup.com/

#6 Eye Lips Face Kabuki Brush. This brush is so dense and soft! Its like a kitten that applies powder to your face. I bought one to use for setting powder and liked it so much I bought a second for blush! Seriously they're so cheap, just go try one.
$6 http://www.eyeslipsface.com/

#7 Mac Blacktrack Fluidline. Smoothest, creamiest gel liner I've ever used! Big fan, not much more to say.
$15 http://www.maccosmetics.com/

#8 Holika Holika Petit Clearing BB Cream. My favorite BB cream, I can't say it helps acne but it doesn't break me out the way many BB creams do. I were this as my everyday foundation. I reviewed it  here.
$13 http://www.prettyandcute.com

#9 Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush. I have three of these blushes and two of them are in heavy rotation for me. I love Plum Wine (Shown) and Pink Frosting which is a beautiful bright warm pink. The third I have is Candy Coral a coral-y orange. That one isn't nearly as pigmented, so I'd advise you to buy only the darker colors from this range.
$6 (Varies) Drugstores

#10 Nyx Brow Powder Cake in Red/Auburn. It is actually really hard to find brow products made for red heads! I refuse to use brunette shades! Don't tell me 'Oh its a red based brown' SA's I know better! Ranting aside, I really like this brow powder. And although the brush in the set is useless (shocker) the little spoolie that comes with is helpful.
$6 www.nyxcosmetics.com

#11 Sugarpill Goldilux Loose Eyeshadow. Holy pigmentation Batman! Possibly the goldest gold ever, especially when foiled. Its really really metallic when foiled, its pretty crazy.
$12 sugarpillshop.com

#12 theBalm Sexy Mama Pressed Powder. Adorable and useful? Sign me up! So far I've yet to find a product by theBalm that hasn't wowed me. I actually need to buy a new compact, I'm almost out.
$20 thebalm.com

#13 Thirteen is a bit out of place, sorry! But its Nyx Mega Shine Lipgloss. Super shiny, smooth, cheap lipgloss that comes in a billion colors. Smells like cherry tootsie pops, which is a bit distracting at first but not bad. Love.
$5.50 www.nyxcosmetics.com

But of course my ultimate 2012 favorite was starting this blog! Love you guys so much, and I really appreciate when you comment. Happy New Year guys. =)

Monthly Favorites: Sep/Oct 2012

Alright so its the eleventh... of november.... normally I aim for the first.... fail.... and this is more of fall favorites post because I spaced doing september's. So much incompetence lol.

#1 BBW Dark Kiss Shower Gel. Mmmm its so yummy smelling last fall I practically lived in the Dark Kiss lotion but this year I'm slowing down so I don't burn out on it. To me it smells like an sexy woman wearing a oriental perfume baking pie. Its very very sweet, but its also warm with a hint of musk. And the sweetness grows on you.

#2 MAC Amber Lights Eyeshadow. I'm loving this warm light bronzy color on my lids for fall. Its one of my go to lid shades in the morning if I'm sort on time or uninspired. I often wear this on the lid with a white shimmery highlight just in the corner and a darker brown in the crease. Good times.

#3 MAC Rich Ground Fluidline. Another staple for quick morning looks, its a creamy reddish bronze gel eyeliner. It good for just a little color, or definition when you dont want something as harsh as black.

#4 Opi Deutsch You Want Me Baby? Nail Polish. Ha ha the names from the German collection are great, but I didn't just buy it for the name. This nail polish is a stunning  metallic orange that I've been wearing all the time lately. Like every other nail color. Very very pretty.

#5 Holika Holika Petit Clearing BB Cream. You guys have heard me talk about this before, but after wearing almost everyday for a month this is definitely an October favorite.

#6 Kenra Color Maintenance Shampoo. A friend of my family's works for Kenra so sometimes I get presents! (Brief little ad, my hair is Kenra hair dye too.) But I've really been loving this one, its kept my color really well. and thats hard with reds. Its perfect for me because my hair is dyed, but not dry or damaged. In fact my hair is fairly oily and so far this has been the best for controlling oil while keeping my color. Also it smells like real fresh raspberries, yum!

#7 Darling Girl Liquid Luxe Kiss Lipgloss in Fenix. Love this lipgloss! Its neutral without being boring, I love it for work! Also my boyfriend doesn't mind it because its so smooth and non-sticky for a lipgloss. I'm definitely buying more soon.

#8 Urban Decay Smoked Palette. I felt like this deserved a mention because I've used it sooo much the past two months. Truly lovely palette, and I think the price is easily justified.

#9 Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. Why this is called a lotion is beyond me. But this is currently my favorite spot treatment for ance. I just dot it on before I got to bed and it helps heal the zit. Magic! XD

#10 Maybelline Lash Stiletto Waterproof Black Mascara. I've been loving this lately. My all time favorite macara is Full n' Soft because its sooo fool proof. I could put it on in my sleep. But this is a little more dramatic, which my sad little lashes could definitely use.

And my non beauty related favorite of the month.... Pomegranates! I adore pomegranates, I'm so glad they're back in season.

Monthly Favorites: August '12

Its the second so I'm a day late, but its time once again to tell you guys about my monthly favorites! Today I have my favorite things from august, and also a few items that I've loved all summer that deserve mention.

#1 This is one of the things that deserve credit for a summer's worth of love. I got these Elle clutches as gifts this year and I've been living out of them! They're a bit small, but they carry what I need on the go. I'll definitely keep using the bronze one this fall, but the bright orange one will probably go unused till spring. But who knows, I love orange and I don't really care about trends very much.

#2 I've also been loving the True Blue Spa Blackberry Purifying Peel Off Mask from Bath and Body Works. Peel off masks are always fun, and this smells sooo good. Its fruity but has an herbal undertone which is a little weird at first but becomes very addicting. This is just a mini one, but I might pick up the bigger size next time.

#3 Lush Demon in The Dark soap. Oh god this soap is a god send, its my HG in allergy season. The strong peppermint scent paired with steam from the shower really helps clear me up, its fantastic. How ever I do have one piece of advice in regards to buying Lush soap, buy smaller pieces. I find that after four months or so that they lose their scent, and trust a large piece will last you double that.

#4 NYX Sponge Cake Mega Shine Lipgloss, I know I've had this less then a week... but its perfect! Its the perfect neutral lipgloss for me. The cherry candy scent is a turn off for some people with this gloss, but it fades fairly quickly. It is sort of weird though, it smells exactly like cherry tootsie pops.

#5 Hanae Mori Butterfly Perfume, I got this sample vial with others in a Sephora freebie and I love it. I did a full review here, and it really is very addictive. I've been wearing the hell out of this the last few weeks. Perfect late summer scent for me, it bridges the gap between my citrusy summer scents and my vanilla based fall favorites.

#6 MAC Sail La Vie Lipstick, this was my signature shade this summer. I wore it at least three times a week every week all summer! It was part of MAC's Hey Sailor Collection earlier this year which I loved for the most part, there are even a couple items I wish I had bought. Its a lovely red orange color and one of my favorite lipsticks in my collection.

#7 Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Entrall, this lipstick is almost perfect. On me its a very pretty red berry color, but its the sort of shade that changes a lot person to person. Its very smooth and long lasting. I bought on a whim because it was on sale but I'd pay full price for this lipstick its really great. It has a very old fashioned 'lipsticky' scent to it which is annoying but it goes away.

#8 Elf Studio Stippling Brush, sorry thats its slightly out of the picture! I really like Elf's studio brush line, and I was excited to try out there stippling brush. I don't apply foundation with a brush anyway, but this doesn't feel dense enough for foundation application (I recommend their flat powder brush for that!) but this brush is great for applying cream blush! I've been using it with my Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes and it makes it look so perfect and airbrushed!

#9 China Glaze Jungle Queen Nail Polish, Vampy Varnish has a great picture of it here, I'm I love the color! It applies well and I expect to wear this shade a lot come fall.

#10 Finally, Wet n Wild Color Trio in Walking on Eggshells I already reviewed this earlier, but I can't get over how beautiful these are and how easy it is to work with them.

And for my non beauty monthly favorite... thats a hard one.... Umm well I rediscovered Lilly Allen a fantastic British Pop singer who I used to adore, it turns out I still adore her. Thanks Spotify!

So what were your favorites last month? I'd love to hear! =)

Monthly Favorites: July 2012

Good morning August! It feels like my July was stolen from me sometimes, I was so busy that it was all sort of a blur. Anyway I'm going to start doing favorites at the end of the month, although this isn't super unique, I always love seeing these kind of posts/ videos. Then again maybe I'm just nosey!
Some months may have more then others, but I want to always have at least one non beauty related thing in at the end. So off we go!

July Beauty Favorites:
#1 Is my new Clarisonic Mia! I've wanted one so long, and I'm very pleased with it.

#2 Mac Ring of Saturn Mineralize Blush. My new favorite blush, the only reason I'm not reviewing it is because its limited edition. I hate it when people review things that you can't buy.

#3 Lush Rose Jam Bubbleroon. First if you've never tried a Lush Bubble Bar, do your self a favor, go get one. Secondly, Rose jam smell sooooo good. I love the smell of roses, but hate most 'rose' scents because they smell fake and grandma-y. This is a deep true romantic rose, and it makes Marilyn Monroe bath bubbles, and lovely pink water. Plus added shea butter and coconut oil to soften your skin. Sexiest bath time ever? Possibly.

#4 Urban Decay Foxy eyeshadow. Perfect nude color for my skin tone, and wonderfully smooth matte finish. Also cruelty free. Need I say more?

#5 Bath and Body works Country Chic shower gel. Not nearly up Lush's standards, but this was the surprise out of the bunch. I'm not a huge floral scent person (With some notable exceptions) but I love this. It has crisp florals with a yummy warm citrus undertone.

And thats it for my beauty faves this month, more bath/ skin stuff then I would have expected! but my non beauty favorite for this month has to be............ Coconut. I've been craving coconut everything! Scents, drinks, sweets, food, just not gross artificial overly sweet coconut. Bleh.

So that all, hope you enjoyed this and please feel free to comment below. Thanks!
