Quick Look: New Years!

Hey everyone, happy last day of 2012! Everyone still here, world didn't end? How shocking! I decided to do my makeup last night to show you guys. I'm a little sad though, the pictures really don't do the glitter on my eyes justice. Its a white pink/ green duo chrome, so just pretend! ;D

I started out with Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and then Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Then I took Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Powder in Opal and patted it oll over the lid. (Again waaayyy more magical in person!) Then I took MAC Omega Eyeshadow and put it through my crease focusing on the inner corner. I then took a little bit of Omega under the eyes and smudged it out. Then I applied MAC Blacktrack Fluidliner, and made a small wing then line my upper lid. Then Mascara and Brows, exciting.

Then I put on Kat Von D Lock It Foundation in Light 48 and buffed it out. I used Hard Candy Blush in Pin Up as a Contour, and added a little of the pinky highlighter from Benefit 10 boxed powder for a little color.

For lips I used MAC Mocha lipstick, with Smashbox Lipgloss in Illume. ( A sparkly nude shade.)

Happy NYE everyone! xoxo A.

Review: Mac Lipsticks Mocha and Fresh Moroccan

Merry Christmas to me! I had a little extra cash after getting gifts for everyone, so I picked up a little something for myself. I got two beautiful lipsticks from Mac, Mocha and Fresh Moroccan.

L to R: Fresh Moroccan, Mocha

Mocha (satin) is one of my new favorites for neutral lipsticks. Mac describes it as a 'peachy yellow brown'. I'd call it more of a peachy brown neutral. I don't own many Mac lipsticks because I find them too drying sometimes, but this one goes on pretty comfortably. I still will put a balm under it regardless. Its a beautiful shade. Its very similar to my favorite neutral lipgloss, Nyx Sponge Cake and they look great together. If you have red hair, and warm undertones go try this. It goes so nicely with my auburn hair.

Fresh Moroccan (Frost) is so festive and pretty! Mac call it 'a brick red with a gold pearl'. I'd say thats about right. This picture doesn't do it justice at all, I had to edit the color and it lost of its amazing sparkle it the process. =( This one is a bit drier, but it isn't gritty and so its nothing a balm underneath can't fix.  Many people don't like frost finish, but this one is beautiful! Wore this one on Christmas, it was so perfect.

Whats your favorite kind of new makeup to get? =)

Winter Solstice Part 2

So the longest night of the year is over! Its mid morning now, and bright and sunny. And while tonight will still be dark, it'll stay a little lighter for longer every day to come now! =) It just makes me so happy! So I made this brightly colored sunny look, in sort of the opposite style of my first look.

So I started out with a primer all over my eyes, and the put some tape along the sides to make a clean edge. Then I took a white cream base and put it all over my eyes. On my lids I patted a bright yellow color all over. Then going to the edge of the tape I took a bright orange and made a wing connecting to the yellow. Then I added red to my crease to add more depth, and blended it between the yellow and orange well. Then I made a wing following the tape line again. Then I took my tape off and lined under my eye a little bit. I filled my brows super lightly and applied mascara.

For my face I wanted a light shimmery finish, the reverse of my pervious look. So I put on a bb cream for a light coverage base. Then I took a shimmery golden peach toned blush and blended it in. Then add some light bronzer around your face to brighten you up. (I'm actually wearing a TON of bronzer in this, because the light is so blue grey today! I'm like an oompa loompa in real life.)

For my lips I put on a bright shimmery coral, and patted a golden shimmer over it.

Products Used:
Eyes: Urban Decay PP, Nyx Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk, Lime Crime Goldfish Eyeshadow (Chinadoll), Sleek Orange eyeshadow (Sunset Palette), Lime Crime Fly Dragon Fly Eyeshadow (Chinadoll), Mac Blacktrack Fluidliner, Maybelline Full n Soft Mascara.

Face: Holika Holika Petit Clearing BB Cream, Mai Couture Highlighter Sheets in St. Barts, Benefit 10 Bronzer.

Lips: Nyx Round Lipstick in Miracle, Hard Candy Tropics Bronzer.

Hope you liked this look, and that things get a little bit brighter for you!

Winter Solstice Part 1

Happy end of the world! Lol not really, but it is the winter solstice which is one of the coolest times of the year. For those of you who don't know, the winter solstice is the longest night of the year, and every day after gets a little lighter. So I did two looks a dark one for today, and a light one for tomorrow.

I started out out with eyeshadow primer all over my eye. After that I applied a white cream base to the outer corners of my eyes, and a creamy black base to the rest of my lid with a brush. This will make the look pop more. Then I took a matte black eyeshadow and patted over where I put my base, make sure its very black. Next I took a pale blue eyeshadow on a different brush and placed it on top of the white, blending out the edge so it transitions well. Then I took sparkle powder and patted it on top of the blue for extra shimmer prettiness. After that I lined my lid and waterline, and smudged some eyeliner under my eyes in the corner.  Then I lined my lower waterline with white. To finish it off I buffed a nude eyeshadow on my brow bone, applied mascara, and lightly filled in my brows.

I applied foundation after that, because dark colors and glitter can have fallout. I went with a full coverage foundation, and concealed under my eyes. I applied a very light contour blush but I wanted to keep the face pretty neutral. Likewise with my lips, I used the lightest lipstick I own.

And that completes my winter solstice look, come back tomorrow to see part two!

Products Used:
Eyes: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Nyx Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Milk, Nyx Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Black Bean, Urban Decay Blackout Eyeshadow, Lime Crime Parasol Eyeshadow (Chinadoll Palette), Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Powder in Pure Opal, Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Eyeliner, Urban Decay Foxy Eyeshadow, Maybelline Full n' Soft Mascara, Nyx Red Brow Powder.

Face: Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation in Light 48, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Light, Hard Candy Baked Blush in Pin Up.

Lips: Nyx Stella Lipstick.

Happy Solstice! =)

Quick Look: MyGlam Look

As promised I did a look with all my new toys from my My Glam bag. I'll get a quick review with each product. I used my own foundation, mascara, and brow product but the only other products were the ones in the bag. Its pretty simple but I did like the way the products went together, I hope you like it!

I started out with foundation, and then primed my eyelids with Mirabella Eye and Face Primer. I didn't test it on my face because my skin has been really problematic lately; face primers tend to just break me out more. This primer was interesting, it feels oily but then dries like a powder. I then loaded up a brush with Nyx Ultra Pearl Mania Pigment in Mink and patted it all over my eyelid. This color is super pretty, the pic doesn't do it justice. Its a really nice soft gold and I think it stands on its own pretty well here. I lined my eyes with Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero which is a nice soft black. Quick mascara and brows, nothing exciting. The I took a Mai Couture Highlighter Sheet in  St. Barts and applied it on my cheeks. This is definitely more of a peachy blush on my rather then a highlight, but its very shimmery and pretty. I discover half a sheet folded in half is the amount you need. Also folding made it easier to apply. Then I finished off with Be a Bombshell Lipgloss in Hot Mess. It looks very red in the tube but is a much more subdued cranberry on me.

Things I liked: The colors went together very nicely! My favorites were the highlighter sheets, and the eyeshadow. I love UD's 24/7 liners too so that was nice. And the lipgloss is a pretty color.

Things I didn't like (as much!): The primer was sort of weird, it made the texture of my eyeshadow a bit less smooth than my normal primers. However it did last really well for a good twelve hours, so I can't fault it for that. The lipgloss is a bit sticky. Not enough to seriously bother me, but it doesn't last very long. About two hours on me without eating. If my lipgloss is sticky I need it to at least last well.

All and all I really enjoy these product and will used all of them. I'll probably try the primer on my face when it my acne settles down so I might do an edit or update for that later. I'd definitely check out MyGlam, its pretty cool. =) Do you have any new favorite products?

Holiday Gift Guide! Under $25

Hello everybody! With the holidays here I thought I'd do a last minute gift guide. I tried to do gifts that would fit into most people's budgets, and can be purchased easily at most malls.

#1 The first item on our list is 3 wick Candles at Bath and Body Works. I'm a big fan of these, I personally think their scent throw tops most other candles. They also come in tons of fantastic scents. These are perfect for girlfriends that could use some relaxation in their life.
$20 at Bath and Body Works (I think they're on sale 2 for 20 right now though!)

#2 Tarte Beauty & the Box eyeshadow quad. These are a happy bundle of pigmentation and joy, all inside beautiful boxes. This one is in Brewed Awaking and is a good selection of neutrals but it comes in three other options if these don't float your boat. This is great for eco conscious friends.
$22 at Sephora

#3 If you want a gift that seems luxe but wont break the bank bet on Stila's All is Bright Lip Glaze Set. It comes with eight of Stila's lip glaze's in a variety of colors and finishes. I think this would be good for someone who likes to change up their makeup a lot.
$25 at Sephora

#4 I thought this was truly adorable! This Body Butter Lollipop is from the Body Shop and comes with five small sized body butters in this set (Coconut, Shea, Moringa, Strawberry, and Satsuma) which I'm a big fan of. If I could only have one body lotion it'd probably be Satsuma Body Butter. This is perfect for any one you want to pamper a little, and the small sized jars are perfect for purses.
$20 at The Body Shop

#5 Lush Fun. This stuff is SO COOL. Its fantastic in fact, its a bubble bath, shampoo, and soap all in one but the best part is that its bath playdough! And to top it off part of the procedes go to creating safe outdoor play places for children in Fukushima. This is great for the kids in your life, as well as people who are kids at heart. =)
$6.95 for a tube at Lush

Happy holidays everyone! Lots of love, A.

Sugar Plum Look

It is so snowy outside! I seriously haven't seen this much of the white stuff since I was kid. So I thought I'd do another holiday look, I sort of had the sugar plum fairy in mind when I did this. This look is super easy and very festive, I think its wearable but you could always tone it down to your taste. Enjoy!

I started with full coverage foundation all over my face, and skipped straight to blush. I took a plummy cream blush and blended it like crazy on to my cheekbone. Then I concealed under my eyes.

Then I took a primer and applied it all over my eyes and brows then I took a nude colored shadow and placed it all over my lid and brow bone. Then I mixed together a purple and rust color to create a cranberry shade and took it in the outer V and the crease. Next I took more of the nude shadow and blended it around the crease to clean it up a bit. To finish it off I applied a gold glitter liner, a light coat of mascara, and did my brows.

After that I went back and added highlighter to my cheekbones, and a put on a magenta-ish lipstick.

Products Used:
Face: Kat Von D Lock It Foundation in Light 48, E.LF HD Blush in Show-stopper, theBalm Mary Lou Luminizer.

Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Urban Decay Kinky Eyeshadow, Sleek Purple eyeshadow (original palette)  Sleek Rust eyeshadow (sunset palette), Nyx Crystal Gold Eyeliner, Maybelline Full n' soft black mascara, Nyx Red Brow Powder.

Lips: Covergirl LipPerfection Lipstick in Embrace.

Hope you're having a great day! Whats your favorite holiday treat? Mine is ginger bread or peppermint bark! =)

Review: OhYum!

I'm a big fan of buying from indie companies, and I'm happy to share this one with you guys. I just got my first order from OhYum and after some testing I've got a full review for you. =)

First I got Ginger Peach Tea Sugar Scrub Cubes. Now this sounded like the perfect storm for me, I love fruit teas (especially black mango!) and body scrubs. The site describes this scent a 'spicy, fruity, and green'. I must say its mostly fruity, it has a very strong peachy note with a slight tea undertone. As for the quality and application of the scrub cubes, A+ for me. Each cube is around the size of a normal sugar cube and to used you simply wet, squish between my hands and then rub on any body parts that need exfoliating. Its  nicely scrubby and has oils that leave your skin nicely moisturized.
$7.00 for 5oz

Then I got Lavender Body Butter. It makes several claims including: being rich & creamy, very moisturizing, and absorbing quickly. It definitely meets all of those marks. I will say that it does go a little fast, I've already made a decent dent and I've only had it a week. However I'm not a huge fan of the scent. =( Its more of a medicinal sort of lavender, but it isn't super strong. I would buy again in a different scent.
$7.00 for 4oz

And then I received two lip balms. Honey Clove and White Tea scented, White Tea was a free gift. (Thanks!) The formula is smooth and slightly thick. Its beeswax based and works pretty well. I've switched out my normal bedtime lip bam for these for the last few days and the hold their own. They also last pretty long, I can feel the slip a little still when I wake up. The scent is slight but existent for Honey Clove, but not for White Tea.
$3.00 for 0.15 oz

Besides some minor fragrance issues, I'm very pleased with my purchases and recommend them. The sugar scrub is probably my favorite.
OhYum! products can be purchased here!
